    Don’t know much about how they work – thermostat / controller off for hw and heating, boiler still running showing little rad icon and house hotter than the sun! It’s like controller not talking to boiler ?

    sounds like it – or a fault in a diverter valve as IIRC they have micro switches in them that turn the boiler on and off
