  • Boiler servicing – worth it?

    Hi,

The boiler in the new house is a Heat Line condenser, approximately 5 years old. Is it worth getting this or any boiler serviced at regular intervals? If so, what sort of costs would I be looking at?

Personally I don’t bother, but more modern boilers might be more fussy and need better upkeep.

Might get slatered by some for this, but I would put a 5+ year old boiler on an insurance scheme, then you get a ‘free’ annual service.

Whenever I have had such an arrangement in place I have never been out of pocket.

I know someone whose free annual service cost him £500 – as a rule in life avoid all but compulsory insurance

Echo this advice strongly – We had our 15 old Vokera virtually rebuilt under BG’s Homecare thingy. Not sure they liked customers like me tbh. 8)

Don’t just get it serviced – get it insured. We have a 6/7 year old Heatline and after we first moved in we had loads of problems with it. Do you live in a hard or soft water area?

We have insurance with Scottish & Southern and they are great – they service it annually and having insurance has worked out well for us.
