bit of an odd one but i’m after a paint code or name of a particular BMW blue from around 2000-2006
it’s for touching up some paint chips on my pegoretti road bike and was called ‘that BMW blue’ it looks like this one i found on flickr

anyone know what it’s called or the paint code?

Alpina Blue might find better search results.

    Found this on google

Alpina Blue II to code FE 60-51G6/BASF/5 (on the data label on the underside of the bonnet) is 91 47 0 759 019 and cost £10.82 +vat for a nail-polish bottle.

They suggest BMW dealer can order it in.

Worth asking the man himself? He is on velocipede salon as Round and seems to answers queries there. If not, someone there would know.

Shamefully, I touched up some chips on my pego with Hammerite… 😳

i think ‘alpine blue’ is a modern metallic colour but googling that led me to a yearly BMW paint chart so i wading through that to see if theres something similar from around 2003-2005.

might try emailing dario but i expect he’s one of those people who doesn’t do email. 😕

    thanks for the suggestions

Topaz Blue was around those dates. Maybe a bit lighter than your flickr picture though.

there’s so many dark blue metallics 😐

    Blue onyx possibly
    interlagos blue. no too bright
    Mystic blue. too bright/cyan
    orient blue. possibly
    monaco blue. possibly

at least i have now narrowed it down to 3 🙂

Topaz is indeed too light but at least that crosses it off the list.
i might take the bike into halfords, don’t they have a colour analyser thingy that will match it up?

Are you thinking of B&Q and the Dulux paint matcher?

LeMans blue, difficult to tell it looks different in the flesh to most photos

i think LeMans is too bright , this blue photographs very dark which is why i think it might be Onyx as every pic of that doesn’t show the blue very well.

Looks like Onyx blue from that pic. Too dark to be Le Mans blue an not dark enough for Monaco Blue.

think that is Alpinas blue i dont know the code/RAL or anything they have a blue and green that are different to BMWs own.

Isn’t that the standard M5 blue? Looks very similar to my mates dad’s old 2002 M5 (colour wise obviously, shape is a bit different)
