i picked up a blaupunkt one from sainsburys a few weeks ago for £40, seems to be alright, but getting moved into the office shortly as the backlight is too bright and you can’t read the clock without it on, other than this minor issue it’s rather good.

If he’s using a tablet, then the obvious thing is a radio app that allows him to listen to a whole load of stations, something like Tunein Radio; he shouldn’t need a BT device at all, that’s for using with an FM radio to allow it to receive digital stations.
A BT speaker would allow him to listen from the tablet without headphones, which is what I think you actually want.
