I’m getting too much travel on the lever on the front brake

Tried bleeding it according to the formula instructions and a bit of air came out, but it didn’t make much difference to the brake

Has anyone tried any other methods?

Maybe the avid method of bleeding?

I ended up removing the wheel, pumping the brake a couple of times (to move the pads inwards) and then replacing the wheel. Just don’t pump them too much or you won’t get the wheel back in.

It’s a real bodge job IMO, but the brakes don’t seem to adjust to pad wear very well (especially if it’s been a wet ride) so you’l gradually get more and more lever throw as the pads wear. This is the only way round it that I know of.

Thinking about it…..I seem to recall that this method is actually detailed in the operating instructions from the manufacturers!

so for every set of pads they need bleeding 2 or 3 times? 😯

I don’t do that though, I just do the bodge as described by Blob and then replace the pads when they are 3/4s worn.
