When I saw the casting for this, I thought this would be worth a watch.

Just endured another 30 minutes of this, desperately trying to engage with the plot.

Wodehouse’s material is clearly very much of another time, but the toffee nose twittery is so unpalatably nauseating, I just had to switch off. Does that make me wrong?

The BBC must have paid a fortune to create this show!

    What do you think?

One episode was enough. Utter rubbish. Not quite as stomach churningly pish as the beebs strange infatuation with that awful Mrs Brown’s Boys though.

I agree that it’s awful, but the viewing figures easily explain the BBC’s “strange infatuation” with it 😉

Over 20 million viewers over Christmas.

Most popular program’s on TV on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

Really?? People will obviously watch whatever rubbish is on.

    How depressing!

Blandings also suffers from inevitable comparisons with the TV adaptation of Jeeves & Wooster, which is generally very good. Read the Blandings books instead.

Edit: and Mrs Browns Boys is rubbish, agreed

1/2 an hour is too short to make use of the richness of material in the books. But it comes across as some kind of ham acted am-dram show, with an over eager pianist destroying the atmosphere at every opportunity.

MSP speaks sense. Nonetheless I am warming to the series and will persevere.
