contemplating doing this myself next year (40th birthday). Good luck, its a massive undertaking. The hardest part will be learning to eat and ride, not to mention what you can keep down!

Its well worth looking over the ultra running websites for nutritional advice not to mention general endurance advice. http://www.irunfar.com is a good place to start.

I also find listening to http://www.ultrarunnerpodcast.com helps pass the time training and there is a lot of useful info there that crosses over.

I thought about doing that last time to mark my 40th. Going to London puts me off 😉

I responded to a gauntlet down of doing it before I’m 40. As its only every 4 years, this was the last chance.

I doesn’t really go into London, just inside the M25….

There’s a Prologue in London if you’re that cut up about it 🙂

If only it was Edinburgh-London-Edinburgh, I’d have been all over it!

Looks interesting, 174 miles a day.

How do you go about training for this?

Long back to back days in the saddle interspersed by very little uncomfortable sleep.

I always aim to have very little uncomfortable sleep. None at all, ideally. 😉

Good luck OP – that is a serious undertaking.

litte sleep is easy. I have 2 boys under 5….
back to back days shouldn’t be too bad either. Once you’ve done it once its easy to get back into it. Tricky bit is finding the time around the boys to get a few big days in

I’m viewing it as an excuse to buy new kit. Exposure Revo is top of the list…. 🙂

    poor excuse

would be easier for me if it went the other way round. Riding through Alston its going to be very tempting to veer off course and head home. At least I’ll be training on the northern loop of the route, so it’s all familiar to me.

I’ll hopefully write something about it afterwards, and as I train up for it, but I very much doubt I’ll be updating as I go.

Cheers for all the support. I’ll be trying for sponsorship for a very good cause and may mention it nearer the time.
