  • Birkenstock for guys, yeah or nay?

Can I just say I love Camper shoes. I used to like Simple shoes before they went bust as well. I fancy a pair of brown Birkenstock, no I won’t wear socks. Yeah or nay?

I have some blue ones, think they Ariozona’s from a quick google, just been to Mallorca for a week, and wore them most of the time.

Brown ones are my go to slippers. Very comfy, moulds to your foot.

Mould all over the inside of your stinky cork sandlals, as well as your feet.

Hell yeah! I’ve got some Arizonas and more contentiously – some Gizehs! Try before you buy though – as their sizing is insane – I take a 41 normally, but a 39 in Birks…

Exactly what I do. I slip out if my birks into my crocs marcel marceux style as I transition from indoors to outdoors.

43/44 in normal shoes but 41 in birks

Brown clogs that now need re-soling. I occasionally blessed them with socks too. Hell, they’re German – it’s what they’re designed for.

Birkenstocks indoors, Crocs on the back door step for bin emptying, clothesline and summertime bike washing duties.

I’ve done a fair few miles on summer holiday promenade walks in Birkenstocks, too. So, yes. 8)

They are ok on holiday in a hot place. I tend to go with flip flops or Teva’s though

Slippers ? I wear those primarily in the winter so sandals seem a bad choice to me.

    Trainers and trainer socks

If you’re on hols and desperate then flip flops

Birkenstocks and crocs are a no!

    Love mine but three caveats:

    1) I have to have the NARROW version which used to be impossible to source in the UK
    2) I need a backstrap to keep them on (so Milanos for me)
    3) I have to apply sunspray to avoid cooking my feet and this coats the leather

Flip flops are the work of the Devil.

They’re OK in an uninteresting kind of way, I’ve a pair but I find if I only get them out for holidays they’re stiff and rub.
My Sanuks are brilliant, so comfy and cool, both cool ahhh and cool yeah!

Indoor yes, outdoor in summer yes, around the office maybe

+1 on the mad sizing though

Got a couple of pairs of Arizona’s. Uncomfortable for the first few days, but mega comfy when worn in.

Quite fancy a pair of Gizehs next…

I am old enough not to care what people think of my clothes and shoes, saying that, even I draw the line at crocs 😯

I used to have a pair, found them so comfortable! In fact this thread makes me want to go and buy some more. I don’t really like flip-flops for anything more walking a couple of hundred yards to the beach as there’s no foot support and i hate the inevitable toe rub.

No. They look terrible. Stop calling them birks as well, not only do you look uncool you sound it too. Don’t give up on yourself just yet.

Do people really look at other people’s feet? I know girls seem to think they do but realistically, who goes around looking at whats on a mans feet???

Its kind of like when you realise you have a stain on a patterned tie: only oddballs will be staring at your midrift with enough intensity to spot the stain through the pattern, at which point the stain is probably the last of your worries!

Yes. See the shoes see the man. No one goes around specifically looking at shoes but if you where to be introduced to someone and noticed they had ‘birks’ on they are most likely the kind of person who also wears stained ties because only oddballs will notice and only girls look at shoes. Said tie possibly worn with a short sleeved shirt too.

It was a no from my wife when I looked at a pair.

Ended up with a pair of these instead:

no. the only thing i want to know about other men’s feet is that they keep their owners in contact with the ground. or pedals.
don’t even think for a second that they can be worn as some sort of ‘smarter’ alternative to trainers. they are not.

    kiwijohn

    There’s nothing smart about trainers.

i concur, but there’s nothing smart about sandals either.

    They’re not smart, they’re comfortable.
Croc wearers, on the other hand, should be burnt at the stake.
