I'm sorry for this post but want to remove the rotor from my Hope Mini brake. I assumed it would need an allen key but it would appear not 🙁

What should I use to remove it please? Is there a special tool or something?

    Thank you so much!

Torx bit, looks like a star shaped allen key, should be a T25 size. Can buy them in Halfords although a lot of screwdriver bit sets come with them. May also be one on your multi-tool (if you have a multi tool). The bolts will likely be loctited in and can be a pain to remove, be careful not to round out the bolt heads.

Thanks ever so much for replies 🙂

Yes, definitely looks like a star shape and it would appear that I need to add to my tool collection 🙄

There's a Specialized multi-tool which has the appropriate torx tool attached, handy bit of kit 🙂

Could I ask another question please?

Have just been to my little workshop and found an attachment for the cordless screwdriver. Looks as though it is star shaped. However, I would assume I would be better off using a dedicated tool to get more leverage?

    Thank you 😀

Use the cordless screwdriver, but make sure you dont mash the head on the screw.

They will also have had threadlock on them when they were put in orignally, a bit of heat will help to break the bond if you are struggling.

    OK, thanks chaps.

I need to remove a cassette as well but that seems to require specialist tools, ie chainwhip etc. This is such fun 😉
