Ok, Inspired by that bikepacking thread, I want to get some kit together to go next year, as soon as weather permits.

Me and my wife have imposed a limit of £50 each for our Chrimbo pressies. I have already Booked a Gelert Solo tent for £27. What other useful piece of bike packing kit can get for the rest.

Get a Tarp! We have these TW tarps at work – really, really good for the money. We have 2x Huuuuge Zoids’s and 2x Cornelius/Sargasso.

As mentioned, tent already on the way, however, that Tarp looks the business. This will be on the extra, non chrimbo list. Might even persuade some others to join me on the road.

I’ve got a Tesco Ultralite down sleeping bag (used twice) that you can have for £20 (leaving £3 for a spork:) ). Packs small and is great for summer trips.

the site has lots of other good things on too, I don’t work for them, just bought a lot of kit there and always had great friendly service.

Vorlich- how do those salsa anything cages hold up with just zip ties? Do they shift around much when loaded?

@jamest Not at all, although it’s only loaded with around 450g. I’ve ridden down some reasonably bumpy, steep stuff with it loaded up with no problems.

The inner tube helps give some grip against the fork leg. I do try to be careful when lying it down or against anything to make sure it’s not in contact with anything.
