As a change from Wales, north of the border might be a destination for the annual over 40s weekend.
Any places to look at, with decent food but nothing lairy or grotty?

    Cheers

Wont get much better than the Tontine Hotel in Pebbles . Great food, friendly staff and secure bike storage.

Have a look at Craiguart B&B, easy couple of mins ride to Glentress, few minutes taxi or ride into Peebles, bike friendly with wash facilities for you and your bike and best of all an awesome breakfast.

Another craiguart vote, stayed there 4 times last year and have booked twice this year, can be a bit noisy with the floorboards above if you want an early night but great breakfast, handy for a walk into Peebles for a beer in the evening and right on the doorstep to the trails, alasdair and Pauline are both really friendly!

Off to gt on Thursday, staying in the ‘wigwam’ wooden huts, which from the sound of it are a halfway house between camping and a hotel, they are heated and have leccy and wifi, but you have to take a sleeping bag. Will report back on Friday!

we used to stay in the bike lodge in innerleithen. nice self catering accommodation owned and run by a guy who is a biker and worked in the local bike shop. just down the road from glentress, 2 mins to the innerleithen trails, comfortable, well priced and slept 6 iirc

They’re brilliant. I stay all the time. Enjoy.

Hope the generator and the hot water has been sorted for you Tom. We were up at Easter. No hot water for four days and electricity was intermittent.
