  • Biggest band who have never reformed/regrouped etc?

I'm thinking Guns and Roses – The REAL line up, not Axl and his hired guns.
I'm thinking Dire Straits, Brothers in Arms/Love over Gold vintage.

Who else is there who was huge, but who could still reform?

This of course rules out anyone with a dead band member, or a band that's still touring.

Anyone else you can think of?

Abba are indeed the biggest name there, much though it pains me to say it!

Not too shabby, Kato, thanks. Change of work is ongoing, but am having a little fun in between! Get to the other side when you get a moment, if you can!

Dougal, did you actually bother reading the OP?
Anyway, Gabriel-era Genesis. All the original members are still alive and kicking. And I missed them first time around.

    specials (with Jerry Dammers)

quite happy that none of them have reformed as it'd probably be shit, if most of the other reformed bands are anything to go by.

The fun is thinking of bands that were really big where there's an actual chance of them reforming. Still, there are plenty of bands that record and tour after personel changes, like Faith No More did. And there's nothing wrong with the Pixies at the moment, or Gang Of Four, for that matter. Glad FTM and Soundgarden are both back together.

    The Smiths

(I'd love to see Talking Heads together)

ooh….was going to add Pink Floyd (waters/gilmore/mason/wright line-up) and then had a nagging feeling (confirmed) that Richard Wright died (n 2008)….and they already did get back together for live-aid.

I was gonna say Bad Brains, but then checked their website and they are back in their original lineup. Awesome.

and Jawbreaker, I can't see them ever getting back together, but if they did it would be HUGE.

Thing is most of these have been money making schemes. I'd love a NEW stones roses album but a tour of old stuff… No thanks. Smiths? Now don't get me wrong. No one is more miserable than me but Ive heard how soon is now enough thanks…

Well ignoring the fact that one of their strictly original members has died, and they have toured, in some form, since they broke up… Pink Floyd could be there.

Oldfart, did Slade not just break up about 5 years ago when Noddy got enough radio work to hang up his sideburns?
