  • Bigger size frames longer travel and vice versa?

I remember reading sometime ago that – that from a pure design point of view- larger frames suit longer forks . i.e. 6″ travel bikes work relatively better in a size large than in a size small.

I understand that the industry doesn’t work that way (ie 5″ comes in s,m,l,xl, 6″ comes in s,m,l,xl) but I suspect there is some truth in that statement.

    Comments? I’m just curious.

What cycnical said. Similar for larger wheels and front end height

Id guess also that it might be harder to get a preferred compromise in suspension design the longer the suspension travel in a smaller frame, just trying to get it to all fit in?

The Norco Aurum is the only bike I’ve heard of that has size specific geometry. (Dfffernt chainstay lengths etc. fo the different sizes. Personally I think smaller lighter riders can get away with less travel, but to get a burly enough/slack enough frame is the hard part.
