    Hi Chaps,

We’re getting married in May, and fancy having some games for people to play – does anyone have any recommendations? My top choice would have been renting a Rollapalooza…. but it’s a bit expensive…. and everyone would get really sweaty, and probably share rompa suits…. ewww..

    Anyone done the same?

    Cheers

    Ricks 🙂

Does your missus know you’re selling invites for £5?

We had a children’s entertainer and a bouncy castle (for the adults). And fireworks that I got to set off.

Croquet and bowls sounds like a good serious suggestion (unlike my contributions) but may want to assess the risk involved of giving your (potentially) drunk guests big hammers

    Jenga

Drafts or chess (if your families are an intellectual lot)

    Massive snakes and ladders?

Walk around magician perhaps? Doing close up magic.

Edit, or, spend the money on a free bar for a few hours and let guests develop their own entertainment…..

    Polo?

    🙂

Serious suggestion would be Jenga. Great fun in massive format.

I said that. But the missus said no 🙁

So I booked him for a private show at home instead.

Pump track is top of the list at the moment, after saving some money on other wedding related stuff, that would be awesome. Looks like £1000 for the day, so not cheap, but would be awesome.

Considering everyone that’s coming is into riding, then that would be ace.

The other two things I’ve seen are:

    – Sumo suits
    – Space hopper racing

Would have to provide some jump suits to change into for people though.

    😯

That’s about a 1/3 of my whole wedding cost.

I have a mate getting married who’s paying £21k, that’s considered average these days.

    I’m not.

Castle in Scotland, maze, big barn, jazz junk ceildh, bag pipes, posh bbq, loads of local ale.

Proper piss up, with dancing, crazy Scottish music and friends from all over the UK.

pass the pigs +1, we’ve done the inflatable version and is good. requires a slightly sober person to act as swineherd.

Get in to pairs and throw and catch an egg starting at about 4ft. Move further and further apart. Dry cleaning bills aside it should go well. £3 job done

Tug of war, his side vs her side.

You only need a rope for that, how expensive could that be?

I’d go for a bungee run.

As competitive as you want it to be, great photo ops, doable (just about) in dresses…

Lawn Darts. Especially fun once alcohol and family animosities become involved.

Viking Kubb is excellent. Involves two people , or teams throwing batons at their opponents pieces. These pieces, kubbs, are lumps of wood stood on end. Google it for the rules. Described as Viking chess and is a good strategic game but easy to play.

I made two sets from fence posts which cost about £30 for a weekend party, excellent value and people really enjoyed it.

Another good one is what we know as Tom’s Swedish testicle game.
Framework about 1m wide by 1.5 high with three horizontal bars. 2 drilled golf balls either end of 300mm length of rope.

Each player has 3 sets of balls, objective is to throw their balls so they wrap around and stay on the horizontal bars. Top bar 3 points, middle 2 points, bottom bar 1 point.

I have photos if your interested.

Yeah we thought that was a bit steep too. So were pretty over the moon when we managed to bag it for free 🙂

I highly recommend Sumo Suits. You in one suit, Mother in Law in the other. Just run full speed and make her go flying.
