Even better this year – I have had almost nothing to do with the organisation. Much respect to Robin, Dan, Ashley and the team for really taking this up a level.
I will still take full credit for their hard work of course 🙂
I can confirm the preparations are continuing.
They will mainly involve drinking cider till the summer weather returns to it’s normal mildly wet, compared to today’s rather wet!
Anyway, dark woods are done, and a bit less dark this year.
Short track is done, and are less short this year.
Camping with a view is ready and looking stunning.
XC Course is running really well!
Marquees arrive tomorrow, bar open about 5ish on Friday 😆
Weird no post-BBB thread! Couldn’t be bothered to take a camera this time, so no photos from me.
Fab weekend though! The night race, Saturday was a no-go cos of the rain, shame I usually enjoy that. Great way to spend a bank holiday weekend, as always.
Twas, as always, very good. Rained a bit, but it didn’t affect the weekend (except for Monday pack down!). I quite like the course, pretty techy xc loop full of singly tracks. Loads to do. Well done all involved. I still reckon SSUK should find a home there one year, and it’d make a gnarly CX course (maybe a NYE one complete with beer shower and party).
It was absolutely splendid as ever. Our 3 year old entered his first pedal bike races and finished stone cold last in the XC and the eliminator.
The little one in the middle practicing his race stare.
Course was great, only 3.5 miles but full on and plenty tiring, I hit a wet bridge at an angle in the Sport race and clonked my face on the ground. DrP and I took a magnificent victory in the mens pairs though 😆
Plenty of beer was consumed, any event where you can enter a trackstand comp, drink vast quantities of ale and legally allow your child to chase a monkey round the woods deserve my support.
Dropped in over the weekend for the beer and bands (fantastic, I never thought I’d like a hair/heavy metal outfit, ever, but Saints of Sin were great), well done to the organisers…
I was just chatting with a friend who attended BBB with us and she asked “are there any other MTB events like BBB?” and i’m not too sure. What else is there out there for kids & parents alike over a weekend?

I had this conversation with at least 2 people – only thing I could think of was Tweedlove but much longer and I’ve never been 😕
