Had a couple of mates come and stay for a weekend of single speed riding, one of whom is a bicycle mechanic and pretty fit (athletically not aesthetically).
On day one my bicycle mechanic mate (who was suffering big time) noticed that my legs were spinning quicker than his & was sure i was not on a 2:1 as i claimed. We finished the ride (finishing off with Selsey Common/Popes Wood climb) and he checked my sprockets which were 36:18.
Next day when lubing his chain he noticed that he actually had a 36t chainring on, not the 32t he’d imagined, so he’d been pushing a 36:16 = 58″ gear all day!!!!!!
Oh how we laughed (at him).
