  • Bib shorts, recommend me some good value ones

All my current (Pearl Izumi) bib shorts are on their last legs after a LOT of use.

What’s good value for money at the mo (note – that doesn’t mean cheap, it means performs above it’s price point)? Suitable for 6hr+ rides, and fits a skinny guy with hairy legs (I have a virtually unused pair of Cannondale bibs – great fit, great pad, but the hem works up my leg in minutes and bunches in my crotch because the leg grippers don’t).

Absolute max budget of £100, but would prefer to be spending less than £80.

    Cheers!

DHB here also, very good for the money and I was previously a PI fan.

Pleasantly surprised by the Howies ones, previously a dhb fan

Lusso and Decathlon also worth a look.

See http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/what-bib-shorts-around-60 for some good suggestions.

I didn’t get on with the dhb at all (nice pad but crap quality). Liked the Endura fs260 much better.

I like my lusso bibs, there’s a few sale offers over on sport pursuit ATM.

Assos are the best shorts, often under £100 worth every penny to me

I bought a pair of Scott Pro ones from Start Cycles for £40 down from £100 and have been well impressed with them so far.

As said above Decathlon top of the line ones are a super item at £60ish.

IMHO, I’d stick with Pearl Izumi. It amazes me the amount of washes mine go through over the years, and they last so well. The pads are very good on the Elite / Pro ones, the fabrics stay in shape, they’re well designed and sensibly priced too. Cyclestore, Koo Bikes (eBay) and Ribble have some good prices on them at the mo. Just my 2 cents – but I’ve just replaced some PI ones with the current version of the same.

DHB Aeron Race – £42 at the moment on Wiggle and I really like mine.
