After stuffing my winter jacket into my rucksack for a 26C ride *just in case* it rains, I’ve realised there has got to be better solution.

Looking for a lightweight, waterproof and wind proof jacket for when the inevitable summer rain arrives. Would also need to be suitable for Alps riding (again in case the heavens open, or it gets a bit windy up top).

    Any suggestions?

Montane Minimus is a pretty good bet. Very light and packable. Jacket and smock versions available.

Dunno about best, as I’ve yet to try it in the rain… I’ve just gone for a Mammut Kento, not specific cycling jacket or pure light weight but a decent spec and pit-zips, which is a must for me. Packs down just a bit bigger than my old Gill jacket, but should fit in the pack without too much fuss (& it was a bargain price but they look to have sold out unless your a Small).

I use a montane featherlite marathon jacket, similiar sized bag to an apple or spare inner tube,
Used it in 5 degrees with just a base layer and it kept the wind at bay

£10 lightweight shell type jacket from Aldis for me .I even use these all through winter, with descent base layers.I very rarely set off riding it storm conditions though it’s just there as a good get me home/keep me warm enough for long enough option.
