    Hi all,

Looking for an Android app so I can ring my girlfriend in Germany for free – any suggestions?

Done a bit of looking around, Skype looks quite popular, but also seen reports of it freezing up etc.

Do these apps use loads of data? I don’t have much data allowance at the moment, although I’m hopeing to get unlimited internet soon..

Currently use Whatsapp for texting if that makes any difference..

    Ta, Duane.

Have you tried google talk? Played with it a bit and it sort of worked, might be better now.

You could try Viber. I found it pretty good. Similar sort of thing to Skype really. You install it and it will detect anyone else in your phone book with the app installed.

I’m a heavy Skype user on my tablet. Superb when away from home for long periods of time.
Voice is always better than video call, but if you have a fast connection, it’s very good indeed. Also, there’s the advantage that Skype works on all sorts of other devices too.
