Currently driving an 04 VW Caddy hdi (not the fast tdi one) and was thinking about a change. It’s a good van,but I’d like one that did a few more than 40mpg considering it doesn’t really set the world alight with its performance. Am I asking for the moon on a stick, or is there something else out there which might fit the bill? Must be available second hand as I can’t afford a spanker.

We get 47mpg out of our 2011 Partner tepee (same as berlingo).
It’s the middle-sized engine (92bhp I think).
53mpg on long journeys.

49mpg on our 1800 mile filled to the gills france trip.

That’s an improvement on the Caddy. Think its only 69 measly bhp?

you have to think that a vans footprint is a fair size bigger than a car. and alot use the same engine so 40+mpg is pushing it.
