What has anyone bought recently that didn’t cost the earth but just worked?

My most recent would be a set of these, £8 and simple as, no more gouges out of the end of the X0 crank arms, makes you wonder why Sram don’t make their own

Dumping excess clamps on the handlebars with: PB’s Mismatch Adapters/Hope Matchmakers/Shimano I-spec adapters
(admittedly not sure on costs as my latest bike came with I-spec, but there cheapish)

The new Topeak hex-socket multitool thing:
    Link
Comes in other flavours but you can tune the kit to only take what actual allen key sizes you need.
It’s a piece of dinky cute engineering!

Wot z1ppy said along with Superstar lock-on grips. Absolute bargain and a significant improvement on the OEM ones that came with my last bike.

That new ratchet rocket looks good, I have an old one but the hard plastic case is a pain to use, away just end up throwing it all in an old phone pouch/case instead.

Did buy my first new set of grips in about 5 years the other day, bike felt great afterwards!

Not an upgrade as such but I bought some custom Stans Flow rim stickers to match my frame. £10 from Slik Graphics.

    You must like stickers!

I’ve just had a new set of hope hoops and purposely left the stickers off!

It’s a toss-up between Halo Hex bolt-up skewers or Stans valve core remover…In fact for less than 20 sheets you could get ’em both – WIN! 😀

Not recently ‘cos it’s been so dry – but Middleburn cable oilers. Fit one in each run of outer, and flush out water and crap from your cables with one blast of WDGT4085. No more rusted up inners; like new cables for a fraction of the cost and hassle.

    It’s gotta be zip-ties.

There’s always a zip-tie somewhere on every bike I’ve owned. Quietly doing it’s small but vital thing. For under £20 you could even get a pack of different coloured ones, so they blend in 🙂

And still have change for plenty cake!

    In the last few years:

    Wider bars
    Charge Spoon
    New cable for the dropper
    Lock-on grips

All under £20 each and much better than what was there before

Just bought some of these on-one tyres for our Morzine trip next week. I’ll see how they go

A rubber gasket to hold a replacement wide angle lens in my XML light. 25p well spent.
