The theme from "Requiem for a Dream"

Favourite soundtrack from the last couple of years is Johnny Greenwood's amazing work for There Will Be Blood

Hans Zimmer just rips off Gustav Holst directly and unflinchingly.
I'm going for The Thing by Ennio Morricone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meU2gAU7Xss
That over the opening credits is ace.Posted 2 years ago # -
Not a film BUT Henry Mancini's "Pink Panther" theme is fantastic

This nugget of pure funky brilliance by david shire. Listen to it all, it's magic.

The little homey Mark Datz is on to something with Fight Club too. Dust Brothers at their finest!

+1 for Ennio Morricone
I really like this , we did this exact same drive over the Grand St.Bernard pass on an Alps climbing trip in 1999, call it a pilgrimage, whilst loudly playing the Matt Monro theme. It was fantastic, apart from the Renault Senic rather than a Lambo Miura.

The theme from "Requiem for a Dream"
Actually that's a really good call!

+1 for The Italian Job and Matt Monro, pure class.

For a film soundtrack, I reckon O brother where art thou is pretty hard to top. T-Bone Burnett at his finest.

Overture from 'Dancer in the Dark'

Another vote for Morricone:
Not the theme, but genius:
John Barry:
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Bernard Hermann:

Gib Gas ich will Spass from the 1983 film of the same name.
My my is the girl with the pigtails hot.

Not exactly a theme (but as above it's gone a bit soundtrack anyway)
Avenues and Alleyways. Recurs in Love Honour and Obey, but then looking for it on Youtube found this great spoof film intro video for it. So, acceptable on both counts.

Are you sure that was the theme, and not just part of the soundtrack? (Midnight Cowboy IIRC)
