you’ll not go far wrong with SLX…

FSA Comet, Deore or SLX, you can get XTs if you are prepared to look around for close to a ton too.

I ordered a Deore set inc bb for £39 from Rose on Sunday. (touring sized rings, think the mtb ratios were cheaper still)

Craig, I’d go for £40 Deore from Rose if the driver is price/value.

its to build a light race bike up for some XC events over the summer.

so weight is also an issue (I was looking at a Stylo chainset 880g but its £85)

however after doing quite a few CX races this season – components do take a good beating so cheap is a big factor too

not sure on the weight of the deore?

Mate of mine selling a 9speed XT for £70 posted.
He part built a bike – but lost interest before he talked himself into spending on the forks .. so looks brand new.

you should be able to find some XTs for that price.
