How mountainous? North & Mid Wales Wales near the coast? Was there at the weekend, and apart from the very tops of peaks there is no snow to speak of.

well ideally a summit or 2! But think this is unlikely. a few medium passes would do!

    Nan Bield type stuff…

Ben Lomond looked pretty snowy yesterday!

North Wales is very snowy/icy if looking for big peaks. It’ll be a while yet before they clear. South Snowdonia is looking more reasonable.

Well this was Y Llethr in the Rhinogs on Sunday (756m)

About 50m lower there was no snow.

Fair bit of snow still in the Lakes, all the tops are properly covered, and the paths lower down are retaining it as its been trodden-in, compressed and re-frozen, on north-facing slopes its still covered.
It was about 1′ deep still at around 450m on Gowbarrow yesterday.

I was up Nan Beild on Sunday, its a slow hike up with all the snow and ice, the descent was worth it for the craic. Were heading to Snowdon this weekend so fingers crossed for the rangers path.

For biking? I can’t see it happening given conditions lower down. Always happy to be wrong, but you might want to think about other options.

haha 😉 that last article was on the 27th March, so it will be fine by the weekend…….. As I mentioned above, I was up Nan Beild on Sunday in the snow, so am not expecting it to be the best riding conditions up Snowdon!

The plan is to descend the rangers path.. and that’s what we will attempt 🙂

We done The Ciaren path at Kinlochleven on Sunday. Some snow on the climb out of Kinlochleven on the WHW and along to the Dam but clear all the way down the path. Fantastic descent but super gnarly.

Snowdon is still full Winter conditions (i.e ice axe and Crampons) never mind a Bike!!, MRT’s busy as it is around 10 calls for help over the long weekend the latest 1st April: 8 walkers cragfast on snow/ice on the Rangers Path, Snowdon. Team member escorted them up and then down the Llanberis Path.

Give it another week and we should see a thaw, remember the hills will always be there.

I wouldn’t go near Snowdon this weekend….unless you are winter walking etc.

Torridon is fine, i was up walking Sgorr Ruadh and Beinn Liath Mhor on sunday. Little bit of snow at some of the bealachs but nothing to worry about, 2-3″ but has been well trampled by feet. Has been wall to wall sunshine up here for a while so it will melt quick.

The Lakes is not looking to good, this was at about 500 meters on the south side of Gatescarth this Sunday, either side of the trodden path you sank up to your knees:

I am praying for an almighty thaw in the next few days

I do wish the snow would hurry up and bugger off! This time, last year I had ridden 11 munros and this year it’s only two so far. Still, it will melt eventually. It means I have to get creative and concentrate on low level stuff such as the Three Lochs Way, Fatbiking and low level stuff in the Lakes. In the meantime, I’ve been planning out some ambitious big days for when the snow goes taking in multiple tops. 😀

Wilde, I was with them but my back was giving me grief so I bailed out and turned around at the top of Gatescarth, I wasn’t feeling to happy about the carry up Nan Bield. Never ridden that side of gatescarth as a descent before, it was pretty ace. The stuff on green quarter was running really nice aswell. Fat bike might have been the ideal tool for that though.
