Fast n Loud – Gas Monkey Garage

If you’re still not convinced, watch the episode where they take a crash damaged F40 and turn into an F40 that as even better than original.

I prefer Fast n Loud over Wheeler Dealers and that other one with that bald old London geezer who just moans the whole time.

Nah, its got a bit silly recently.

The boxster episode put me off. They bought it for £1000 because the gearbox was slipping in auto mode and the owner let it sit for 4 years becuase he thought it would be to expensive to fix. (without seemingly checking what was wrong)

The oil needed changing.

Plus the cars are never the versions you are interested in, always the absolute boggo spec. Lancia delta, it was the 8v, not the 16. DB7 was the straight 6, not the v12. Etype was a knackered, fat series 3. Finally they got a really cheap morgan, all that needed doing was to change the chassis (150+ man hours)

And they dont factor in Ed’s labour into the costs. Fine if they make a few k on a car, less so if they ‘make’ £100.

Still watch it though…

Edit, yeah do like fast and loud, though it does seem to be going down the ‘American Chopper/Discovery channel’ route of starting off small and cool, to being a huge corporate behemoth, they’re already doing a few ‘theme’ builds, with lots of sposorship/product placement creeping in.

If you’re still not convinced, watch the episode where they take a crash damaged F40 and turn into an F40 that as even better than original.

That episode(s) made me sad. F40s should be kept original. IMO obvs.

The best car show isn’t on TV, it’s on the wireless. I was introduced to it by friends in the states. Car Talk on NPR

Fast N Loud, followed by Car SOS with Fuzz Townsend from PWEI & his garage in Aldridge on it. Wheeler Dealers is alright, but they always seem to conveniently simple fixes and Mike Brewer is more annoying than Clarkson IMHO.

Can you get Wheeler Dealers on Freeview?
Not seen that for years.

Fifth Gear is ok, but I love the documentaries that turn up on BBC3 & 4:
The Hunt\Lauda one last week was superb.

The American/Cockney bloke programme – whats it called? Made my teeth itch.

Hideous. Then last week just the American bloke popped up under the arches ‘bespoke’ chopping cars and this prog was for Martin Kemp. I almost threw myself out of my groundfloor window.

Alternatively, China Bellend / Brewer Legend featuring “meat substitutes” and real ale is currently showing in UKShedForBlokes+1 in HD.

One puts engines in everything from a toilet, to a bed, to desk, to a shed, to skip.

The other is a cockwomble who doesn’t know how to treat or drive cars, and wantonly does over the vulnerable. You’d never have guessed he was a back street used car salesman, would you!

Fast and loud for me, some cool old American stuff on there plus a few old English stuff (escort mk1 Mexico I think)
Richard Rawlings is pretty cool and Aaron Kaufman is a bearded wonder at flipping scrap into a headturner
Just seen a few early ones in their original Garage just lately and yes it’s moved on in terms of budget for cars and the garage they work out of plus now he’s bought a bar called Gas monkey bar and grill or something so yes it’s becoming more commercial

Been watching fifth gear a bit. I like Philly Throttle too. Wheeler dealers is fading for me as I appear to have seen most of them :S

If smart TV’s with Youtube count Chris Harris on cars gets my vote.

Sensible reviewing with plenty of drifting, best of both worlds.

Online anything with chris Harris.

Wheeler Dealers is ok but as said above they don’t factor in Ed’s hours or tooling costs.

strippers: cars for cash can be entertaining but incredibly set up. And again they don’t factor in travel costs, engine sold for £200 just got to HGV it from London to Leeds

Did anyone watch ‘I want that car’ on ITV4. Absolute car crash TV, rubbish presenters and no idea about cars. A quick google after the shows showed much better deals than the ones they had ‘scoured’ the country for. I’ll be very surprised ifit gets a second series.

I enjoyed the American Wrecks to Riches too, some really nice cars, maybe the crew weren’t quite as entertaining though. American Hot Rod was ok car wise but I’ve no idea why they thought it would make good watching, not sure if they thought the dysfunctional part of American Chopper would make good viewing, they must have been competent enough you never got that impression. The prank one has nice cars anaw, but the ‘joke’ and schmaltz aspect was a bit much.

Is there going to be a QI style alert if I say Top Gear

Its a commercial programme meant for the mainstream but its got cars in and its still an enjoyable watch

I like the autocar stuff on youtube, particularly the car vs bike stuff

Endured about 10 minutes of that the other day. So, so awful.

Not on TV but there’s some excellent stuff on /Drive. I like the weird content leaps, one second it’s a large bald man driving an 800bhp american street rod and making gargling noises, the next it’s some english blokes going rallying incredibly badly.
