Do you have a brand in mind – Mud Dock do Trek, Specialised shop at the bottom of Park Street, Giant shop over in Sadly Broke etc

    XC? Hmmmm…

Psyclewerx, Bike, Garlands Zero G and Evans of all places but my list includes ability to order and excellent backup service.

There are loads more but my experience has been pretty poor e.g. Fred Baker moan all the time and Strada always sold me faulty or incorrect stuff and get really arrogrant over cheaper things.

Muddock's machanic is great, their staff are usually hit and miss but friendly.

Bristol is great for cycle shops! I must admit that even the worst shop is better than some other cities.

Terrys in Yate were bloody great sorting out a hub conversion for me, had some trick kit in stock as well! 15 min drive from N bristol. Another vote for mudock, or cyclesurgery in Filton

Terry's is the shop most local to my office – as above, I have found their service/knowledge/willingness to help to be fantastic. Prices for consumables and kit is generally expensive though – don't know about complete bike prices. Believe they are a Marin/Whyte dealer, as are Bike UK on the Triangle (IIRC).

Bristol's a bit of a funny one (in the city centre at least), muddock have got a deal with trek that they can be the only stockists in the city centre, similarly the specialized concept store (which in reality is just another branch of zero g) are the only folk allowed to stock spesh. Evans can order any of these but aren't allowed to carry stock afaik. All seems a bit strange to me.

Bike UK in Clifton have some nice stuff and good staff, Webbs of Warmley (NE of Bristol) for nice road stuff. Don't go to the Fred Baker shop out of the centre – Lodge Causeway – nothing like their other shop. Most of the rest are covered up there.

Psyclewerx probably have the best range of high end bikes as they specialise in custom builds and are dealers for quite a few brands – Nicolai, Turner etc.

Yea depends on what you are after…. Let me know if you have anything specific in my mind as I know a few people!!?? (not in a naughty way)

Mud Dock is great for Trek, S Cruz, Scott and commencal (at the moment) and certainly Dan in there is knowledgable and customer orientated. Oh, and first place in the UK to offer free servcing for life on bikes.

Psychoworkx (however it is spelt) is the boutique place of the moment…. and Zero G in bedminster is a good alrounder with quite a few brands and good stock…

Evans is just Evans though innit…

    Psyclewerx

Aye, only one worth bothering with for proper high end kit. You'll die of old age before you get served in Muddock and everywhere else just does run of the mill stuff.

John's in Bath is by far my fav bikeshop in the entire southwest, head and shoulders above everywhere else IMO.

Mud Dock – you kidding me ? – they just ignore you in there – especially if you don't look stupid enough to be shelling out top dollar !

Bike UK – ha ha – you want it when sir – we're booked up for the next n months & it'll cost you £super Y – too many rich people in Bristol !!

    Psyclewerx are the one.

    I use Bike.

And they will price match or give a discount if asked for.

Psyclewerx is the place for high-end stuff. They give lifetime free servicing on bikes bought there as well which is worth something.

Always had good service from Strada myself, OK it helps if you're fond of Italian road bikes to but not found them snobbish/unhelpful.

I normally end up in a foetal position after checking the price tags in Mud Dock but good for Trek/Scott.

Spesh Concept Store I really like but you've obviously got to have some affinity to Spesh gear.

Bike is OK, there's a high ratio of low-end stuff to high end stuff though (I guess they want to run a business rather than boutique 😉 ).

Terry's is about as close to what I'd call a traditional LBS near Bristol but it's a pretty small shop with limited range. Great for spares/advice but not really worth the journey if you just want to browse high end bikes.
