There are some aphids on my acer that secrete a sugary substance and have an army of ants that defend them.

Surely that’s like saying cows produce a milky nutrient rich substance and have an army of humans to defend them.

As far as I know they herd them as we do cows* but chow down when they need to.

The octopus ink looks quite good until a saw a documentary recently where they put a camera on a sealion. It caught an octopus no problem, then ate it’s legs to stop it escaping!

Unfortunately blue whales are attacked by orca, especially the calves but also the adults, so not a guaranteed defence.
