Benefits of UST on Stans rims over standard "tubeless ready"?

I've never used UST tyres on any No-Tubes rims and I've had Olympic, Flow, Arch and SunRingle Black Flag (license the design from Stans).
I think Stans rims are designed to use standard tyres.

can't see any benefit, UST tyres are so heavy. No probs with Schwalbe, Kenda or maxxis on stans for me.

The UST or LUST tyres tend to go up very easily; even bigger tyres on wider rims. I usually only need a track pump. The downside is that they are substantially heavier, if that sort of thing bothers you.
Some TR seem the same - Bonty MudX, some Schwalbe's. While others require more faffing around with and you might need CO2 or a compressor to get them to catch. Schwalbe Dirty Dans would be an example.

Pros
tougher sidewalls (more pinchproof), a bit easier to inflate.
Cons
Weight (well duh! tougher almost always=heavier) expensive.UST (or dual ply) on the rear, TR or just standard on the front for me.

Stans with normal tyres sounds like bodge city. I have a new set of stans with UST tyres on and they went up with a track pump in about 10 secs. If normal tyres can do the same then great, I'll try them - if you need a compressor or any general dicking around then I'm not interested.

The liquid latex in tubeless ready tyres dries out much quicker than in ust tyres, and needs checking every 4 to 6 weeks rather than every 6 months.

One of the supposed advantages of UST is sealing without sealant, but practically nobody does that anyway, and standard or TLR tyres + sealant is usually lighter than UST anyway.
UST is the tubeless equivalent of a dualply IMO- some people will benefit from it but for most, it's a bad option for everyday use.

I've got tubeless-ready and standard tyres that have gone 6 months without any bother... Certainly wouldn't bother to check them any more frequently than that tbh.

I think UST (and probably TR) have thicker bead-seating material and this prob helps initial sealing and possibly reduces burps

I've never found it so. Most of my tyres (Conti, Maxxis, Kenda and Schwalbe) have gone up easily enough with a trackpump. One or two needed to be inflated with a tube first, then half-unbeaded and reinflated without the tube, but that only takes 2 minutes so it's no biggy (FWIW I had a UST tyre that was the same)
Mind you, I do use my compressor because I'm lazy, then again I use it for tubes too

Fair enough NW - one must weigh these words, though, against the eleventy million threads on tinternet on general Stans aggravation.Mind you, I do use my compressor because I'm lazy, then again I use it for tubes too
I'll obviously try normal tyres as the benefits in cost and weight are too great not too. I just don't anticipate it being straightforward.

I've never used UST on my stans rims. standard or TR tyres seem fine most of the time. I've had the odd incident when I have tried to use a very light xc tyre though.
Just Riding Along website says the same thing and those folks have a fair bit of experience with tubeless stuff

Much much tougher sidewalls on full UST tyres. I've not found tubeless ready tyres hard to inflate, for the most part, but I do kill them pretty quick, normally by killing sidewalls (specialized ones, maxxis LUST too) so it depends if you're riding rocky trails or if you want the security of a tougher tyre. Personally I think it is worth the weight penalty.

Nah, no problems whatsoever - but then I also (initially) use a compressor.
Normal tyres are normally lighter than UST's.

Check out Stans website.
The rims are designed to work with any tyres.
I have had problems with Maxxis Medusa on Mavic 317 but a friend with Crest rims has no problem getting them inflated.

Have to say, I have a set of 819s and a set of flows and once the yellow tape goes on, there's absolutely zero difference in tubeless performance- fitting tyres is identical

UST often quite heavy but not always ded strong IME - I'm pretty sure UST nobby nics are made of thick tissue paper and then given the once over with grey copydex
