I’ve been playing the michel Thomas french course in my car the last few weeks and really enjoying it, but now would like a book with a bit of grammar as well to dip into when I have a question, want to go over something on the cd or have a few mins spare to read. Tried some apps but didn’t enjoy them. Looking on Amazon Collins basic french grammar seems well regarded, any views or suggestions?

“501 French Verbs” has as many verbs and their various conjugations as the title suggests and has quite good explanations for what’s used, when and why.

And to be fair, for verb practice and basic vocab building it’s pretty good.

I like the Practice Makes Perfect books. By all means look at grammar one but the conversation book is very good and has enough grammar as ultimately I think you want to speak a bit and understand what’s being said.
