Just bought a new (to me) frame along with new forks and wheels.

Rest of parts transferred from previous bike.

The rear brake hose is a little short – it’s workable but not ideal and needs changing to a longer hose

    Brakes are SLX 675.

I’ve shortened hoses before but that’s all done at the caliper end.

    Question is:
Is the Banjo bolt (and it’s ‘locknut’) re-usable? Can I just unscrew the lock nut and re-use them?

I realise new olives and ‘nipple thingy’ are required – just after advice on the banjo and lock-nut.

Also, as for hoses, are they all the same (diameter) or do I need to stick to Shimano?

Yes, new banjo and nippy thingy with barbs are all you need new. IMO

+1 ^ but I found that the jag wire hydraulic hose cutter and needle driver have been invaluable little bits of kit for the job. Around £25 for the pair. And if your a serial bike changer you’ll get plenty of use from them 😀

I assume you mean you shorten at the lever rather than the caliper?

    Yes, the lever end!

    @ fudge9202

Thanks for the info on the tools. I’ve considered them before – good to get a recommendation

But I’ve not seen them that cheap – where did you get them from?

The banjo has the little rubber O rings … I’d be tempted to replace these if you reuse the banjo….

I try and buy spare “sets” (including new Banjo’s) whenever they go on clearance as buying them separately costs more in the end.
