FOR SALE my old faithful battered and bruised beer bike.
Azonic DS1. Singlespeed. No careful owners but it has been well loved.
It's a real beauty using a mix of spare parts which have gathered around my shed between 1992 and 2002. Actually it looks well rough. But there's some old school gems on there.
In 2002 I bought an already beaten up Azonic DS1 frame in lovely polished Aluminium. I built it up to be my first Singlespeed and loved it.
In 2005 I put a crack in the seat collar, above the top tube. So I bought a Cove instead and transferred the bits over. But I kept missing the old DS1 so I bought a long seatpost, rammed it down the frame way below the crack, put all my spare bits on it and this is now the bike I'm selling. My beer bike.
For the last 6years this has been my weapon of choice, making cruising to the pub great fun. Improving my manuals and step riding on the way back home once I had lost my fear.
In it's day it was a great frame, and even now it's a pleasure to ride. You have to stand up lots but it's great for hops and little jumps. Reckon it'll make you a better rider though, it improved my cornering and I learnt to manual on it.
Gear choice is a manly 38x16. Ideal for tarmac or scooting around the local parkland singletrack. Bit on a monster if you were to take it up any real hills though.
As said earlier, this ain't no looker.
Components are:
Azonic DS1 Frame- seems very small- maybe about 14inches. (I'm 5'11 so ride it like it's a jump bike)
Marzocchi Bomber Forks- Black. 2002/3
ITM Stem
X-Lite XC Riser Bars. Anodised Blue- These were the bars to have in 1996
Ergon Free ride lock ons. In white- grubby beige now TBH.
Avid V-Brakes- surprisingly powerful. Stoppies and endos are no problemo
Nasty but real Yellow Selle Italia Flite Saddle- with blue ripped edges
X-Lite seat clamp.
1992 LX Chainset square taper BB.
Big White Flat pedals. No idea which brand but they were about £15 from Leisure Lakes.
Specialized rear tire and big heavy tioga at front.
Cheap seatposts and wheel-reasonable true- they don't rub brakes etc and seem to be pretty strong.
£120
Swap For Labour:
Bring a digger and brake up my nasty concrete drive
or
Carpenters- fit three new wooden doors.
I shall even treat the Azonic to a nice little coat of WD40 before the new owner picks it up. Yup, no expense spared here!
Please can you pick it up. I don't really want to post it. I'm in Cheltenham.
Email me for pics or more details. I've never got the upload picture thing to work. Or I can email you the pictures and you can upload them?
