why don’t the bbc dub their english language content into whatever language it is they’re speaking?

surely it’d save lots of money….

it’s not always about money. sometimes it’s about culture and heritage. I can’t speak Gaelic but I like the channel as it has interesting content.
Although i do wish the would settle on a pronunciation for Alba. Saying that though, the variations in pronunciation of English worlds are massive. What a beautiful multifaceted world it is.

Its Gaelic TV made by Gaels for Gaels and the rest of us, not everyone elses TV translated into Gaelic. Gaelic speakers already see all the rest of our TV and without exception all speak english. Thats why there are English subtitles for the wider audience, but not Gaelic subtitles when some is speaking English.

As above. Most Welsh programmes on S4C are very much aimed at the Welsh audience, rather than simply being national TV translated.

This is important, and no different to BBC Scotland making programmes about Scotland and so on.
