Just spotted this in the Classifieds:

Battery has been well treated, full charge/discharge cycles followed etc.

Completely discharging a Li-Ion or NiMh battery will permanently damage it. This “memory” myth continues to pervade modern society and is completely wrong, unless battery in question happens to be attached to a satellite or something similar.

If you’re doing this to your own batteries, stop.

    Message ends.

My Lupine One charger has a condition mode that cycles the battery during charging. Surely hey wouldn’t offer it if it was going to damage it?

So is there any best practice for mobile and notbook batteries?

I think mobiles and netbooks are OK as they have intelligent power systems, and will shut off before the battery is knackered.

It is bike lights being run til they go dim that does the real damage. I’ve even heard of people deliberately flatting their car battery, but this does real damage and reduces its capacity each time.
