    Nothing to do with being outside London, I just find staunchly defending colloquialisms and striving to hang on to a regional identity and the associated quaint affectations amusing.

    Where I grew up it was a breadcake, where I live now, it’s a barm. I couldn’t go into Greggs and ask for a bacon roll, especially when the usual reply from the staff is “do you want a brew with that?”
