One for the shop workers/owners this.
Local BMXer (still in school so a bit naive) buys WTP Addict in January 09 , fortnight later decides he’d like a new rear wheel, so call into LBS buys wheel and leaves BMX for it to be fitted. Collects it and its all been done but the drivetrain is now in the left of the bike, not a problem normally so off he rides. Pedals keep coming undone. We inspect the bike to see why and it becomes apparent that the cranks arent dual drive they are right side only, but because the shop sold him a left drive wheel they just re-fitted the cranks the opposite way.
So we sent the young lad back to the shop to get it sorted and they told him he would have to pay 80 quid for new cranks to put iot right but for now they have put som threadlock on the threads to stop em falling out.
Its a tricky situation as we dont want to stir it up for various reasons but what should this lad do? (his parents dont speak much english hence us trying to help himout.

sorry for the long post but thanks for reading

that’s really shoddy and nigh on dangerous putting RHD cranks on the other way round.

Did they tell him it was a LHD hub when he ordered the new wheel? or did he pick it out without realising it was LHD? Was he limited English a factor though?

    did he ask for LHD?

unless he grinds that way its pretty pointless.

his english isnt so bad but he is 14 so communication is not a strong point. he was’nt aware of the differences of left and right hand drive and didnt realise that you needed specific cranks for the job. I’d say he had more money than sense but that does’nt excuse the shops shoddy handling of the repair.
I’m getting on to the ACT now to see what they say
