In the process of cranking up the b screw enough to accommodate a 42t cog under a sram x7 10 speed mech…

…I had to remove the screw and turn it round to get that bit of extra range…

…and two rides later the stress this puts on the mech has widened the hole the b screw goes in and stripped the threads.

Has anyone come up with workable solution to this? I’m thinking of fitting a sturdy bolt as a b screw using a couple of nuts either side of the hole it used to fit in?

Since its under pressure surely just a nut on that side would hold it in place?

Assuming the pressure is never momentarily removed, e.g. by going over a bump
