    Hi,

    Building a road bike.

Seems the B screw has to be dialled out to have the right amount of distance as the jockey wheel was way too far from the cassette?

    Is this normal?

    Thanks in advance!

There is no ‘normal’ for the b tension screw. If it works, it works.

    Cheers toppers.

Think it’s my rear hanger design and using a 28 rear/105 mech.

    Will have another tweak today.

Did you by any chance adjust it to clear the sprockets before fitting the chain?

No, the bike was partially built in a box.

I’ve set the over run screws and set up the shifting to be sweet.

Brought the rear cassette lowest gear close to 3-5 mm which is bang on for Shimano.

Had the B screw on minimal thread.

    Better check my chain length.

Dialled out ! Do you mean unscrewed all the way ?

There is a few threads against the rear hanger but I’ve never had to have so little on rear mechs in the last 20 years and 100’s of mechs.

Ok I just check chain length = bongo! far too long from factory!
