I changed cars a few months ago. My old cycle carrier badly marked the boot lid on my old car and chipped the paint which led to rust spots.

I don’t have a tow bar on the new car. Are there any boot mounted cycle carriers with built in features, or any aftermarket products, which eliminate or reduce the risk of damage to the boot lid?

Can you not put some invisiframe type stuff on the contact points of the car?

I put invisiframe on the old car. It worked well, but needed changing occasionally as it wore.

Aye, Helitape worked for me. Pity I didn’t put it on before the scratches appeared 🙁

I’ve used foam pipe lagging in the past.
