    Hi All

I’ve currently got a set of hope 6 pots on my DH bike and am trying to evaluate whether it would be worth replacing them with a set of the Avid Code DH brakes. I would of thought that the 6 pot would give loads of power, esp as my disc is a 225mm on the Fox 40, but they don’t feel as good as my brother’s codes. I don’t know whether that’s just because my 6 pots are old and in need of some TLC, or whether just technology has moved on since I bought them in circa 2005.

The trouble is, I have one of the original 5 bolt Big Un hubs. There’s nothing wrong with it, so I’d rather not change it. Does anyone know if I can get hold of a 5 bolt rotor for the Codes? My brother seems to think I can just shove a 203mm hope rotor on there, but I’m a little dubious.

    Cheers

Try it. I’ll give you £20 for the 6 pot calipers!

203mm hope rotor will work fine.

Codes are a hell of a lot more powerful than the old mono 6 brakes. They have less modulation though.

More pistons does not always make more power, it’s to do with hydraulic gain.
