Proper BBCode for lazy feckers like me.

    That's all – carry on.

Any chance of a translation from tech speak to plain English?

Yeah, clarification in my native language would be nice.

OK… (much as it goes against my lazy fecker disposition)

Flickr had a facelift recently which, in many ways, was an improvement. However, they made it more difficult to access the code needed to post photos on forums like this with a link back to the photo page. BBCode is a simplified version of HTML designed for forum posts. Until very recently, New Flickr only gave access to the HTML code which meant DIY if you wanted the BBCode. I'd previously relied on Bez's Greasemonkey script to do this for me but this doesn't work in New Flickr.

If you click on the "Share this" menu you'll see the HTML/BBCode options. Nice and easy now!

If you have a flickr account and you want to link to images in that account on a Bulletin Board based forum such as this, the code is now provided for you when you click the all sizes link next to your picture. It means you can just copy and paste the code rather than having to make it yourself.

In flickr, hit the 'share this' button, then the 'grab the html/bb code' link, select your option and copy and paste. Bingo.

I've always just gone to "view all sizes" and then copied image address from the relevant one – wont that work now ?

hold up, just going to have a go…

    my way:

"share this" way (easier, if it works): – doesn't 😀

    try again:
    " alt="" title="" class="bbcode-image" />

    again:

without using the "img" button ??

Ah, right. I'd tried posting something and got very confused so that has clarified what the changes mean. Thank you, that's been a big help. 😀

Yeah a long overdue feature, insisting on link backs but not making it easy for probably the most common use was just silly.

[edit] It worked! I didn't notice that… in the past I just used the 'all sizes' option and copied the URL from there… At least that way you get some degree of anonymity/

flamejob, or can i call you jase?, you can omit the bits with your name and profile links when you paste it on the forum – it's fairly evident which bits you need to leave off for it to work without the text at the bottom.

Though that was against the terms of use and I believe they were closing accounts due to it.
