I need to get some assembly paste for a seat post tomorrow, so online not an option. Does anyone know anywhere in Glasgow that would sell it? Is there a non-bike equivalent I could pick up from a normal tool / car parts / components supplier?

    Thanks

Go to your local motor shop and ask for non-setting gasket compound.

Jam bo, it does the same job as ‘carbon paste’ or ‘carbon grease’ but at a considerably cheaper price.

Thanks, RS Components seem to sell that stuff:

So as long as no one is going to come along and say it will cause the seat post / frame interface to combust it could be a winner.

I started to use it after I got a seatpost stuck in a carbon frame; it was a recommendation from Trek USA to prevent such a problem…
