got the bearing, got the drifter set from hope. got the soft hammer.

taken the end caps off, and in the hope video, the guy smoothly pulls off the freehub body with minimal effort.

so either I'm a complete weakling, or my freehub is jammed in there solid.

anyone else had this? and more importantly, found a solution without wrecking the freehub body?

tap out the axle from the NDS and the freehub may well come off too

It's only shiny new hubs you can pull of with your hands.

Either gently tap the axle from the non drive side or screw the lockring back on without the cassette and tap that to avoid damaging the soft alloy freehub body.

Use a bigger hammer? 😉

freehub in wooden jaw vice and pull like ****

Spray a load of WD40/GT85 on it and leave it overnight.
OR
Leave the cassette on and tap/hit/whack it from the back, through the spokes.

OK, will try a bit more…grrrr.

sit on the hub support/vice/bits of wood and drift the axle out thru the freehub.

Just been through exactly the same,follow 18bikes suggestion and drift the axle through the freehub. You'll find an accumulation of crusty brown stuff on the axle where the bearings were, clean it up with a plastic pan scourer and the bearings will go on, and come off as intended.

phew! got it off with a cocktail of the above! that was a mission!
