    Slight overtones of the rover group sale.

    Sell a bit to this person, leverage this then once your 5 year obligation to Cambridge has run its course strip what you want and sell the rest on…

    If 5 years was the deal then 5 years it is. If you don’t like the terms take it up with the original sellers but in this country we are free to sell our business to whoever we chose.

    I will admit to compare ARM to the rover group is a bit off but they are an example (that quickly came to mind) of a UK company that was sold with a promise by the purchaser to keep a headquarters or retain ownership for a certain amount of time.
    The government have the power to protect companies and industries they feel are of significant value. ARM fall into that category. If we are going to lead the world selling of the tools to help us may have been short sighted.

    k-series engine was reasonable though, even made the Metro acceptable (as I drove one for a bit, until it generally fell apart).
