They aren’t Deore, they are Acera at best.

I can only compare the old and new models of XT, but the differences will be generic.
The new ones are designed to be true 1-finger operation, whereas the older ones had a longer blade designed for 2-finger braking. I still used the old ones 1-fingered and just mounted the brake further inboard to compensate.
I do think the new Shimanos feel a whole lot better than the older ones (more power and more controlled), so much so that I’ve sold my old XTs and now have the new XT on every bike.
General concensus is that the Deore are just as good as XT, just a bit less adjustable. Basic operation and power/feel being the same.
Personally I’d go for the new model every time.

Deores were on wiggle at £40 each or bike24 for similar as I’ve bought within past week. Only slightly more than Rose.

    not buy new brakes 😉

nah i dunno mate. undercutting the competetion (and having stock) is what is making crc thrive.

I have to say, given the choice of A – simply order for the cheapest price from a place with stock, or B – ring somewhere without stock and ‘hope’ they they may cut me deal. It’s going to be A every time.

Any reason why mtb direct differs from CRC?
