  • Are there any alarm engineers on here?

    Any help/guidance would be appreciated…

We left for a few days holiday on Monday, and set the house alarm as usual. When we got back home we found the keypad to the alarm was making a odd clicking noise, and a message on the display said “FORIGIEN LETTERS” (which I’ve never seen before).

The keypad is unresponsive to any amount key pressing and the external alarm box is flashing bright white although there’s no audio.

It wasn’t until I spoke to my neighbour and he said the building development behind my house – a digger went through a mains line and took power out to a large number of houses. Apparently it blew the bucket off the digger! The mains was off for about 3 hours until they put in a temporary fix.

Would it be possible for something like this to have damaged my alarm system? Should I be having words with the site foreman?

Maybe it uses a sql database?

Aren’t they ‘FOREIGN KEYS’? Unless the programmer of these devices couldn’t spell.
