  • Are new bikes longer than old ones? Sizing help please!!!

I’m busy sizing myself up for a new bike. The 20 inch 456 I’m looking at is the same length, (top tube + 40mm stem,) as my old spec’ rock hopper, (tt + 110mm stem.) Is it normal for newer bikes to have longer top tubes generally, (my rock hopper is probably 10yrs old,) or is it just this model? And is it people’s concidered opinion that I’ll be fine or not!? (I run a flat bar on my rock hopper and will be getting a stock riser on the 456 if that changes anything.)

(Sorry if this seems like a numpty post!)

    If you are shorter than a long legged 6’2″ (I’ve a 20″ 456Ti) I’d consider a smaller size.

Yhank you both! From this and other chats I think I’m revising in favour of an 18.
