Ok, I’ve been over that way (not far from where I live) and it’s no way as “busy” as some say. Firstly it’s dunes, and most stick in the dunes, secondly it only gets the “d*ck” brigade out say 5 times a year, the rest of the time it’s full of families, so let’s get some pespective before everyone thinks it’s some sort of “porn*land” yeah.

But, kids ought to know what a nekkid body looks like by now, so whadda problem?
Were they fat? Or Women? or both??

Near me theres a section of beach designated “nudist”. It’s a SW’ly facing beach with small cliffs nearby. There is a popular trail that mianders it’s way along the top where the whole world and thier dog walk/ride bikes etc. and you’d never know what was below unless you took a peek over the edge. Now, funny this, I’ve lived here for 16years and I didn’t know it was a designated area.. until last night.

I don’t suppose all the nudisterists came running over and loomed over the traumatised kiddies though – and if they did, had they been wearing beachwear or not, the children would still have been scared surely.

grahams but that’s your child and if he/she is used to it, then I could see why it’d be normal for him/her.

All I’m saying is I can imagine a situation where suddenly seeing adults naked might upset ‘some’ children, not ALL children are traumatised ALL the time by nakedness.

Just think, you have the terror of sinking, then all of a sudden your in a world of naked grown-ups, it might be all a bit much.

Agreed emsz, but only those children that have been brought up to be upset by nakedness.

In nature/nurture terms I can’t see any reason why kids would be “instinctively” upset by humans in their natural state.

Same here and, apart from the fact they’re both going to be easily impressed by any future boyfriends, no trauma either.

Emsz – that is the point some of us are making – it is only traumatic because the parents make the children think it is wrong or dirty or whatever. Surely, given the OP circumstances, the parents just explain to the children why the people chose to be naked and that it isn’t an issue.

I sometimes worry that the sight of my sad old shrivelled up ageing little hairy Beggy might be disturbing to my 2 year old son when we shower together.. the sight of it disturbs Mrs Yunki.. and our elderly neighbours.. and the milkman.. and the lady in the post office.. and the bloke who came round to read the meter the other day.. but yunki Jr has yet to pay it any more attention than he would my calves or my elbows..

If the children had been worried because their parents hadn’t discussed the finer points of people who want to be naked to them, or whether they were just scared because they had a massively scary thing happen to them (being on a sinking boat)and really weren’t processing the naked adult thing all that logically…still scared kids, if moving them makes them less scared, then what’s them problem?

Being scared of nudity is surely created through positive re-enforcement (ie, the parents would have to actively tell the children it is wrong).

If the parents had never discussed nudity the children would not be traumatised as they wouldn’t even understand it. Which then gives the parents the opportunity to use the situation positively – if the child asks why no-one has clothes on, tell them. Don’t shout ‘OHH MY DEAR GOD LITTLE JOHNNY – AVERT YOUR INNOCENT EYES’ and huddle them to your chest – that is bound to cause distress as the poor things would be confused as to why mummy and daddy reacted like that.

It wouldn’t shock a child at all – children (generally) are affected mainly by their parents behavior.

Stressed parents = screaming kids

naked adults are only scary if you’re the same height as their groins…. if you run fast enough in the wrong direction you could end up with an eye out of getting your head stuck

There never was a problem, only observation of what was either silly parenting or over-stressing the negatives of a situation. Kids are a thousand times more robust than all the padering and silliness in society makes out.

I am sure most *normal* kids aren’t at all bothered about nudity. Such as my friend’s little boy on Sunday who, on coming out of the bathroom having just done a wee, shouted ‘do you want to see my willy’ whilst holding it, waving it and running into the street.

I can see how it would be scary for a 3ft tall child when you consider what is directly in a 3ft tall childs eyeline when surrounded by 5.6ft-6ft adults, not nice..
