Can someone clarify what the difference is between the various versions of the Apple Watch.

I know there is a 38mm and a 42mm version with the 42 having a slightly larger screen with more pixels.

But is there any other difference in spec/capability?

And what’s the difference between the normal, Sport and “Edition” versions?
i.e. Any technical differences or is it basically just cosmetic?

(The Apple site is typically vague on tech differences)

Other than the number of pixels on the screen as you’ve mentioned, there is no technical difference between any of the Apple Watches. It’s all cosmetic, either in terms of the strap or the metal of the case.

Yeah I agree scaredypants, but it’s not for me.

IIRC, the larger watch is supposed to have a longer battery life.

I have the bigger one and the wife has the smaller ones. Battery life is pretty good after the initial wow period. I can normally get 2 days out of it but I barely use it for anything other than a cool watch.
