Interested to know if anyone has used it to display maps on the watch and if it is any good for navigating.

I’ve used it on Android wear which I assume will be similar. I tended to have it on the display which is just a directional arrow to follow (when following a pre-defined route) and pull out my phone if I needed to consult a map (which was rare).

It works great – don’t expect to see maps just a direction arrow, distance to next waypoint, distance travelled etc. If you have any doubts and need to see the map then just open the app on the phone, which has to be there anyway for the watch to work. Phone battery lasts much longer than if you use it as a stand alone navigator.
