I had WoFM as well. There was a really bad computer game of it too, which was utterly unrelated to the book. I found out years later that it was a different game entirely (‘hall of the things’ IIRC) that they’d just renamed as a quick cash-in.

Steve Jackson’s still making games, incidentally. Stuff like Munchkin and such.

How many of you actually played them properly?

Or were you very often “lucky” despite not having dice anywhere near you? 🙂

had WoFM, nope never got my act together (how hard is it to get dice a pen and paper?) and played properly just read it and got lucky a lot 🙂

Had a few no dice/keep score ones too, eg. go left turn to page 36 go right turn to page 74
    page 36 = you died 🙁
Seem to remember a couple of Transformers ones

I loved the Fighting Fantasy books when i was a kid and recently got one for my lad which was great fun to do together.

I seem to recall there was another company as well that did something similar, with Wolf in the title?

Deathtrap dungeon rings a bell might dig that out for the boy later.

Fighting Fantasy were great 🙂 Seas of Blood and Trial of Champions were my faves IIRC though some of the futuristic ones (Appointment with FEAR, etc) were pretty good too. Looking through I reckon I had exactly all of the first three rows – guess that’s where I stopped.

I just ‘won’ every battle. Couldn’t ever be bothered to play ‘properly’. I’d quite often be ‘unlucky’ though just to see but often bookmark the previous place just in case… 🙂

Awesome, remember all of the first couple of rows too. WoFTM was proper hard, I don’t think I ever managed to finish it! Always ended up getting eaten by the ghoul.

Remember, west is best and never, ever turn to page 399.

I loved them, fangs of fury was my favourite. I got some of the apps a while ago, good fun but you can’t cheat 🙂
